As I edge in on 40, I become more and more out of touch with those wacky kids of today... apparently the keytar (er, "shoulder synth" in Roland-speak) is big with the younger generation- especially those who color-coordinate their shoes and blouses (just like I used to do with my red Capezio's and red leather... oh, forget it). The Lucina brings 150 high-quality sounds, a 37-note keyboard with 128-voice polyphony, battery power, um, cheap, light, and best of all, available in far more evil black for when the harmless little lassy above realizes she hates her mom and starts shopping at Hot Topic.

Shipping, um... May at $799. I'm gonna start brushing up on the Miami Vice theme...

Ok, not exactly the MS-20 reissue I might have hoped for, but it is truly analog and it does have an authentic MS-10/MS-20 Sallen-Key squelch-o-matic filter. It's tiny; about the size of a cell phone, and judging from the less-then-virtuousic performances in the this YouTube vid, you won't be intimidating Rick Wakeman any time soon on the tiny 1 1/4-octave membrane keyboard. Korg is throwing around models like the PS-3000 and MS-series synths of the 70's in their blurbage, which is kind of like comparing a paper airplane to an F-16, but whatevs. The good news is the cost: somewhere between $55 and $85 dollars.
