April foolishness.

I must admit that most of what qualifies as MI industry stuffed-shirt humor isn't too funny to me, but I'm a jaded rock & roll type, so unless it involves a mudshark at the Riot House on Sunset, I may smirk in distaste. With that said, a couple things made me crack a sidelong smile... The fictional new Nine Inch Nails release. And I thought Trent lost his sense of humor. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks the idea of Timbaland producing a Chris Cornell record is an embarrassment. The Moog MF-106TC Analog Time Compressor which reverses the fabric of time, or, to quote Moog, "Much to our amazement and delight we began hearing sounds up to 1000 milliseconds before we played them." Moog also mentions a "unique Slap-Forward delay effect sounds even better than Slap-Back." Maybe they can reverse in time and make me a Polymoog. Please? And finally we have software developer Antares, makers of AutoTune announcing their "revolutionary new Direct Mind Access (DMA™), designed to free would-be composers, songwriters, musicians, and drummers from the tedious study and practice that have traditionally been required for the development of musical skill, DMA technology will allow anyone (see NOTE below) to transfer the music (or voices) they hear in their head directly to any DMA-compliant DAW." Best of all, the copy protection scheme utilizes "the convenient iLobe™ USB Really, Really Smart Key. Requiring only the implantation of a simple cranial USB port ..." The entire link is pretty funny, but I REALLY wish they'd make me a cranial implant that could block out all the awful, intentionally over-tuned crap music I'm forced to hear on the radio daily. But I digress... And finally, though not strictly an April Fool's Gag, in fact, not really a gag at all, we have the lovely Amanda Palmer (of Dresden Dolls quasi-fame, but in a solo appearance here) with a most unkind ode to her record company, the metal machine Roadrunner Records. Ahh to be star...
