Turn it up to, well... Digidesign Eleven Rack

In the "really?" category, Digidesign has just dropped Eleven Rack, which basically takes their Eleven guitar modeling plug in and puts it in a Pod Pro-esque two-space rack case incorporating a 2-in/2-out Pro Tools LE-compatible USB audio interface and a front panel XLR mic in with phantom power.

There's just ten amp models, seven cabs, seven mics and 16 effects, but for me, that's fine (I use exactly three amp models of the roughly 497 models on my Line 6 Flextone, and I suspect most serious musicians are the same). The other nice thing is that the presets actually sound like amps, as opposed to the mega-effected swooshathon so commonly experienced in rack boxes of this ilk. I'm as picky as they come, and I was ready to hate it, but it really does sound great. Additional, it allows you to record dry guitar and amp tones simultaneously in case you're into the reamping thing. This could be really cool if you want play like you would through an amp, then pipe it out to a real mic'd amp setup at a later date.

Nice job guys... we should have a review up next week. In the meantime, check it out.

UPDATE: Review posted HERE.

The super-swell Pro Tools 8/Mbox 2 Micro deal of doom.

post by Mitchell Sigman I hate doing this kind of post, but you'll have to just trust me, ok? To celebrate the upcoming December release of ProTools 8, we're doing a really great pre-order deal: ProTools 8, an MBox 2 Micro audio interface (regular price $249), and a FREE Secrets Of The Pros/Pro Tools Vol I tutorial DVD (a $35 value) for the stunningly low price of, uh... I can't say. Because companies don't like us to advertise below certain set prices. I know that sounds icky, but it's the truth. But...  I PROMISE that at this price, instead of just getting the PT8 upgrade, you can get PT8 with the highly portable Mbox 2 Micro for cheap (read: lets you use PT out and about with your laptop). Plus the swift DVD. This deal isn't anywhere on our site, so for all the info, please call our festively cheerful staff at (866) 283-4601.

Dave Smith Instruments Unveils their New MoPho

Mopho is a truly analog compact monophonic synthesizer- no modeling here! The voice architecture is identical to a single voice of the Prophet '08, but with a couple of unique twists to distinguish it from its award-winning sibling. Super sweet! In-stock right now... mo in-pho HERE (couldn't resist the opportunity for a bad pun!)
