2009 was a great year for innovative gear and software. We'd like to highlight some of our favorites:

Camel Audio Alchemy: Such a powerful instrument, it's really sort of hard to categorize. Imagine a virtual synth crossed with an unbelivably powerful sampler with esoteric sound mangling capabilities including additive, spectral and granular synthesis and resynthesis, sampling, and a very capable virtual analog engine... and tons more!

 

Akai APC40 Ableton Live Control Surface: You'd have to be living under a rock not to have noticed Akai's ubiquitous tailor-made Ableton Live controller. It's the natural tactile counterpart to perhaps the world's most dynamically manipulatable music creation software.

 

Universal Audio UAD-2 Solo/Laptop: Everyone who's used Universal Audio's plug-ins is instantly sold on their spectacular audio fidelity and authentic vintage-style interfaces. This year UA took their act on the road with the UAD-2 Solo/Laptop in ExpressCard 34 format for laptop users. Now you can take it with you...
